A Friday afternoon course for pastors and church leaders focused on a systems approach to congregations, with discussion on how to prevent destructive conflict as a congregation or parish embraces change.

A Seminar on Healthy Change in Congregations: Our congregations and parishes are subject to the same ebb and flow as larger family systems. We can identify our dysfunctions in ways that provide for change and hope that goes beyond conflict and sows the seeds for dynamic and life-changing growth. Through a systems approach, participants will discuss the spectrum of conflicts and will learn the 5 steps to prevent destructive conflict and to begin the changes toward a return to health

Jeff Newcomer Miller is an active member of the Albuquerque Mennonite Church and works as a school facilitator helping youth through a peer mediation program. He received his BA in Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies from Goshen College, and his MA in Theological Studies from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical seminary with a focus in congregational conflict and inter-faith dialogue. Jeff has extensive experience in mediation, conflict resolution, systems theory and circle process. He is also an avid bicycler, and he and his wife Monica have two very happy boys – most of the time.
This EIM–EED course is offered in cooperation with the New Mexico Conference of Churches (NMCC) for $25. Registration Deadline: February 10th
